Historic Stonehouse Cabin • Canyon Retreat

Stonehouse Cabin – Arizona Canyon Retreat is a historic 120‑year‑old stone home perched above Ash Creek Canyon. Once the Mine Manager’s Quarters for the old Chrysotile mining town, this spacious upstairs cabin blends original craftsmanship with modern comfort and sleeps up to six guests. Surrounded by towering canyon walls, wildlife, waterfalls, and preserved mining ruins, it offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Arizona’s most secluded landscapes.

The cabin sits on 420 acres of private land within the Tonto National Forest. With only one other cabin and seven widely spaced campsites on the property, guests enjoy exceptional privacy and direct access to miles of canyon terrain. Explore abandoned mining sites, hike to waterfalls and swimming holes, or relax and take in sweeping views from your retreat.

Guests may park directly at the base of the cabin staircase for easy access. Your stay includes an optional 30–45 minute off‑road orientation tour, where your host highlights historic sites, scenic overlooks, and trailheads throughout the canyon. For guests who want a deeper adventure, UTVs are available for daily rental, providing access to remote waterfalls, creekside trails, and ghost town remains from over a century ago. Hiking is permitted throughout the property, with routes leading to dramatic canyon viewpoints and hidden natural features.

Stonehouse Cabin is ideal for travelers seeking history, solitude, photography, wildlife viewing, and authentic Arizona canyon experiences.
